Ma Fengqing was always curious about the donor behind her wig as it is made of real human hair. Fortunately, the 43-year-old cancer patient met with Zheng Zihe, a medical student, at the Beijing-based Cancer Institute and Hospital under the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences on April 19, on the sideline of the 20th National Promotion Week for Cancer Prevention and Treatment.

Statistics from China's National Center Prevention and Control Office showed about 3.1 million new cases and 2.5 million deaths annually from cancer.

Initiated by CIH's Patient Service Center, a total of 22 women donated hair or scarfs to cancer patients, showing more care for their well-being.

"I never thought of helping people with my hair," Zheng said.

"I truly appreciate her generosity," Ma said emotionally. "The gesture helps strengthen my confidence in combating cancer."
