Premier Wen Jiabao says China will further push forward its medical reforms and enhance cooperation with the World Health Organization (WHO).
Wen made the remarks in a meeting with Margaret Chan, the Director General of the WHO, in Beijing on Tuesday.
Premier Wen thanked the WHO for its support of health in China. Wen praised Margaret Chan's efforts over the past four years in improving the management and leadership of the WHO.
He said her efforts contributed to the WHO's effective response to several public health crises, including the 2009 H1N1 influenza pandemic. Wen says the Chinese Government fully endorses the reelection of Margaret Chan as the head of the WHO.
For her part, Margaret Chan spoke highly of China's medical reform. She also expressed her willingness to promote the WHO's reform and push forward global health development.
