The Chinese navy are conducting training exercises with a fleet of four warships in the South China Sea and the western Pacific Ocean.
The fleet along with four ship-borne helicopters and a hovercraft will conduct drills such as command post establishment, operational maneuvering and high-sea convoy missions.
Simulated air and submarine attacks will also be carried out.
Jiang Weilie, the commander of the South China Sea fleet, said this is a way of improving the Navy.
"The training exercises will be conducted according to requirements of actual combat, with the aim of improving the navy's defense capabilities based on the information system and enhancing its ability to safeguard our maritime sovereignty," Jiang noted.
The drill is part of the Chinese Navy's annual training plan, with seven similar exercises conducted last year.
