Cross-Straits Economic Cooperation Committee to Meet Soon
Share

The Chinese mainland and Taiwan have agreed to convene the fourth regular meeting of the cross-Straits Economic Cooperation Committee (ECC) on December 11 in Guangzhou, capital of south China's Guangdong Province.

The agreement was made according to a provision in the Economic Cooperation Framework Agreement (ECFA), a wide-ranging cross-Straits economic pact signed in 2010, according to the mainland's Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Strait (ARATS).

At the meeting, ECC members from the mainland and Taiwan will continue to review and assess the implementation of the ECFA as well as the progress of negotiations on follow-up agreements.

They will also exchange views on the global economic situation in 2013 and on deepening cross-Straits economic cooperation, the ARATS said.

Zheng Lizhong, convener of the ECC on the mainland and executive vice president of ARATS, and Vice Commerce Minister Jiang Yaoping, the mainland's chief negotiator for the ECC, will lead the mainland delegation to attend the meeting.
