Share

Chinese and French military leaders pledged in Beijing Monday to jointly respond to all kinds of global challenges during the 11th strategic dialogue between the countries' defense ministries.

The dialogue was co-chaired by Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the People's Liberation Army of China Ma Xiaotian and Deputy Chief of Staff of the French Army Philippe Combes.

The two sides exchanged views on issues of common concern, including global and regional security situations, pressing issues, army building and cooperation between the two armies.

Ma called on both sides to further promote communication and coordination to improve political mutual trust and jointly respond to all global challenges amidst complex and changing international and regional situations.

Ma said China-France ties have witnessed sound development. The two countries have been keeping frequent high-level mutual visits, as well as vibrant and deep cooperation in all fields.

He said the Chinese army attaches importance to relations with the French army. Both armies have committed to boosting transformation and have huge potential for communication and cooperation.

China hopes to work together with France to beef up the friendly practical cooperation between the two armies, Ma said.

Combes said the two sides face common global crises and tensions.

The two countries and armies should strengthen coordination and cooperation to jointly safeguard international and regional security, Combes added.
