Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi met with his Kazakh counterpart Yerzhan Kazykhanov on Tuesday to discuss bilateral cooperation.

Yang hailed the stable growth of China-Kazakhstan relations since the establishment of diplomatic ties nearly 20 years ago, citing increased political and strategic trust and a new level of practical cooperation.

The development of China-Kazakhstan bilateral ties has set a good example for neighborly, cooperative and win-win relations between nations, Yang said.

President Hu Jintao and Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev vowed to further strengthen cooperation between the two countries when Hu paid a state visit to Kazakhstan in June.

The Chinese side has fully implemented the consensus reached between the two countries' leaders and will continue to conduct frequent high-level exchanges, Yang said.

Kazykhanov said that Kazakhstan has paid great attention to its relationship with China and regards Kazakhstan-China relations as one of its top diplomatic priorities.

Bilateral relations are at a historical high, featuring high-level political trust and in-depth cooperation, Kazykhanov said.

He added that both countries understand and support each other on regional and international issues.

Kazakhstan unswervingly supports the Chinese Government on issues related to Taiwan, Tibet and the fight against terrorism, extremism and separatism, Kazykhanov said.

Kazakhstan will continue to work with China to broaden cooperation in the fields of economics, trade, energy, technology and security, Kazykhanov said.

Kazykhanov is paying an official visit to China from September 7 to 9 at the invitation of Yang.
