China, Poland Vow to Advance Relations
Share

Visiting Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi and Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk pledged to raise China-Poland relations to a new level.

During their talks, Yang said there was a traditional friendship between the two countries, and that Poland was one of the first countries to recognize and establish diplomatic relations with the People's Republic of China following its founding on October 1, 1949.

The two countries had maintained great momentum for further development of bilateral ties with cooperation expanding in various areas, Yang said.

The two countries needed to continue their high-level exchanges, promote mutually beneficial and win-win economic and trade relations and expand cooperation in such areas as infrastructure, energy, environmental protection and high technology, he said.

Tusk said the Polish market was open to Chinese enterprises and that the two sides had enormous potential for cooperation in such areas as infrastructure and energy.

He hoped they would also boost contacts and cooperation in areas of culture and tourism and enhance mutual understanding between the two peoples.

The Chinese foreign minister arrived in Warsaw Thursday for an official visit.
