Ukrainian President Meets Senior Chinese Legislator on Bilateral Ties
Share

Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych met senior Chinese legislator Wang Zhaoguo in Kiev Tuesday to promote the relations between the two countries.

Wang, vice chairman of China's National People's Congress Standing Committee, conveyed Chinese President Hu Jintao's greetings to Yanukovych.

Wang said the Chinese and Ukrainian peoples enjoy a profound traditional friendship.

The upcoming state visit by President Hu to Ukraine will push bilateral cooperative relations to a new stage, he said.

Facts have shown that developing the relations are in the interests of the two countries and peoples, he added.

Yanukovych, for his part, highly praised the high-level bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

He said close exchanges and friendly cooperation between the two countries' parliaments are of great importance to the Ukraine-China ties and the two peoples' friendship.

Wang is on a three-state trip to Europe, which will also take him to Ireland and Poland.
