The value of China's logistics industry hit 125 trillion yuan ($18.9 trillion) in 2010, a growth rate of 15 percent year-on-year, said the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing (CFLP) on Tuesday.

The growth rate was 3.7 percentage points more than the previous year, the CFLP said.

As a percentage of the gross domestic product (GDP), logistics costs come to around 17.8 percent, down 0.3 percentage points from 2009. The figures suggest that operational efficiencies have improved.

The total value added by the logistics industry reached 2.7 trillion yuan in 2010, which constituted a 6.9 percent share of the GDP and a 16 percent share of the total value added by the country's service sector.

The proportions remained unchanged compared to the previous year, according to the CFLP.
