Share

A cold front will bring more icy rain and snow to southern China from Sunday to Thursday, freezing parts of China's south already hit by sub-zero temperatures since the New Year's Day, weather authorities said Sunday.

From January 9 to 13, most parts of Guizhou Province and some areas in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and Yunnan Province will see more icy rain, the National Meteorological Center (NMC) forecast.

Meanwhile, most parts of the southern Hunan Province will see heavy snow, it said.

Snow is also expected in some regions in the central Hubei Province and the eastern Jiangxi Province, according to the forecast.

North and northeast China saw temperatures drop by 4 to 8 degrees Celsius Sunday. In some areas in Jilin and Liaoning provinces, temperatures dropped by 15 degrees Celsius.

The high temperature Sunday in Changchun, capital city of Jilin Province, was minus 16 degrees Celsius during the day.
