President Hu to Attend Summits of G20, APEC
Share

Chinese President Hu Jintao will attend the Group of 20 (G20) Summit in the Republic of Korea (ROK) and the 18th Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit in Japan this week, Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei announced Monday.

Hu will attend the summits respectively on the invitation of ROK President Lee Myung-bak and Japanese Prime Minister Naoto Kan, Hong said.

The fifth G20 Summit, an international forum on economic cooperation among the world's 20 major economies, will be held from November 11 to 12 in Seoul.

During the APEC Summit, scheduled for November 13-14 in Japan's second largest city of Yokohama, APEC members will focus on the changes needed to tackle the financial crisis and how they should be implemented, as well as discussing further integration of the regional economy.

This year's APEC chair Japan has presented "Change and Action" as the theme for APEC 2010.

APEC is a forum which aims to facilitate economic cooperation among 21 member economies in the Asia-Pacific area.
