Qingdao to Host International Expo on Green Industry
Share

An international exposition to highlight new environmental-protection technologies will run from July 3 to 5 in Qingdao, east China's Shandong Province, the provincial government announced Monday.

The biennial exposition initiated by the Shandong Provincial Government would focus on technologies conducive to the development of pollution-free buses, organic food, low-radiation electronic products, and environment-friendly building materials and homes, said Xie Feng, director of the Science and Technology Criteria Department of the Provincial Environmental Protection Bureau.

Industrial experts and government officials from the Republic of Korea, Japan and the United Nations Food Agriculture Organization were expected to participate in a green economy development forum during the three-day event, said Xie at the press conference.

Chief engineer Wang Jun, of the Provincial Environmental Bureau, said the "Green Expo" also aimed to provide overseas investors and manufacturers a better understanding of Chinese demands in energy conservation and emissions reduction.

New products and equipment from home and abroad would be displayed.

Since the exposition began in 2004, a total of 1,944 enterprises from 24 countries and regions, including the United States, Japan, France, Germany and the Republic of Korea, have used the event to sign 5,894 agreements or cooperation intentions, official statistics showed.
