Death Toll Rises to 33 in Flooded Mine, 5 Missing
Share

The death toll in the flooded Wangjialing coal mine in north China's Shanxi Province rose to 33 after one more body was recovered Sunday noon.

Rescuers are searching for the five miners who remained missing, the rescue headquarters said.

The 115 miners lifted out of the mine alive on Monday after being trapped underground for more than a week were all in stable condition, said Gao Guoshun, director of Shanxi's Health Bureau, Saturday night.

They are receiving medical treatment in five hospitals in Hejin and Taiyuan cities.
