Shanghai Official Investigated over Bribery Charges
A former district head in Shanghai was being investigated over alleged corruption charges
Share

A former district head in Shanghai was being investigated over alleged corruption charges, the local discipline watchdog of the Communist Party of China (CPC) said Sunday.

Cai Zhiqiang was being investigated by judicial authorities on suspicion of taking "huge amount" of bribes when he served as the chief of the Putuo District and director of the human resources department under the Personnel Bureau of Shanghai, said the CPC Shanghai Municipal Commission for Discipline Inspection.

Cai had allegedly sought benefits for others by taking advantage of his posts, and his moral and life style was corrupt, it said.

Cai, also former deputy to Shanghai Municipal People's Congress, resigned from his post earlier this month.
