The Chinese mainland reported 125 deaths from the A/H1N1 influenza in the week from Nov. 30 to Dec. 6, nearly 65 percent of those reported in whole November, the Ministry of Health announced Wednesday.

About 13.7 percent of all the 326 deaths reported so far were pregnant women, the ministry said, correcting an earlier figure of eight percent given by Zhong Nanshan, a medical expert in south China's Guangdong Province.

Cao Zhixin, a doctor at Beijing Chaoyang Hospital, said the high percentage was because pregnant women were generally unwilling to take medicines or X-ray checks.

The ministry also said 47 percent of the dead patients suffered from chronic diseases and 18 percent were obese.

The total number of confirmed cases of A/H1N1 flu in the mainland had topped 100,000 and 31.61 million people had been vaccinated as of Wednesday, according to the ministry.
