China's top legislator said on Thursday the country would work with the international community to increase anticorruption cooperation.

Wu Bangguo, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), made the remarks when meeting with heads of delegations to an anticorruption forum of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC).

Hailing the forum's positive role in promoting anticorruption cooperation between countries in the Asia-Pacific region, Wu said it would also help the Asia-Pacific region achieve economic growth and social harmony.

China would work with other nations to enrich the cooperation content within the APEC framework, and push forward regional prosperity and stability, he noted.

Robert Cusick, Director of the U.S. Office of Government Ethics, expressed appreciation for China's efforts in anticorruption area, saying that all attendees to the forum had reached agreement to expand anticorruption cooperation.

The forum opened in Beijing on Wednesday. During the three-day meeting, about 150 representatives from 21 economies in the Asia-Pacific region, related international organizations and Chinese domestic organs would exchange views on setting principles and enhancing training to build an honest and clean government.
