Leaders from Japan and the Republic of Korea (ROK) arrived in Beijing Friday to attend a leaders' meeting of China, Japan and the ROK scheduled for Saturday in Beijing, announced Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ma Zhaoxu here Friday.

Ma said that at the invitation of Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao, the ROK President Lee Myung-bak and Japanese Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama arrived here Friday for the second trilateral leaders' meeting of the three countries.

Ma said that this year marked the 10th anniversary of the launch of a trilateral cooperative mechanism between China, Japan and the ROK.

The leaders of the three countries would review and summarize the progress of trilateral cooperation and draw up the future plan, so as to further enhance their cooperation, said Ma.

Ma said that the leaders would also exchange views on regional and international issues of common concern.

The first meeting of leaders from China, Japan and the ROK outside the ASEAN plus China, Japan and the ROK framework was held in Fukuoka, Japan in 2008.
