Membership in the Communist Party of China (CPC) reached 74.153 million people at the end of 2007, up 2.782 million over the previous year, according to the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee.

There were about 3.663 million grass-roots CPC organizations, up 9,900 from 2006, it said.
