Vice President Xi Jinping has called for deepened reform and innovation in the selection of officials as human resource is important for the country's development, reform and stability.

Xi, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), made the remarks during his inspection tour in east China's Shandong Province from May 6 to 10.

The Party must improve its ability to select the right person and make proper use of the personnel as the country was focusing on development, reform and stability, he said.

To achieve the aim, the Party must unswervingly reform, improve and innovate its official selection system, he stressed.

Xi also asked officials to pay more attention to the grassroots work and attend to retired Party members, Party members with financial difficulties, and the livelihood of common people to bail them out of difficulties.
