Tour of Fuzhou Finishes

The Ebhor Cup Tour of Fuzhou concluded on November 18 with a win for Czech rider Jiri Hochmann, part of team ASC Dukla, under the points classification.

The competition, an international mens event now in its second year, consists of three stages across three days in the area around Fuzhou, capital of southeast China's Fujian Province, with all three stages starting or ending in the nearby Yongtai County.

Hochmann's win on the last stage proved enough to boost him to the top of the classification. "I have been here in China for three weeks, and it was the first victory for me so I'm really very happy," Hochmann said. Giving insight into what gave him the edge on the final day, he attributed it to starting the sprint 300 meters before the finish line and getting "good rest" the night before.

As part of the UCI Asia Tour, the event earned Hochmann 35 points towards the 2013-14 season, though he was not the events fastest competitor, an honour that went to Rahim Emami from Iran, who rides with RTS Racing from China's Taiwan Province. Emami beat Hochmann's teammate Milan Kadlec, who took second place, by a staggering 27 seconds.

The Cup saw an additional win for Team Max Success Sports under the Greater China team classification, and a win for Wu Peilun under the Great China individual classification. Wu's team, Qinghai Tianyoude, ranked third under the Greater China team classification after being beaten to second place by the China Hong Kong team.

The event organizers were sure to enforce strict doping control measures, no doubt in the wake of the scandal unleashed surrounding the Lance Armstrong controversy that led to revelations regarding rampant use of stimulants in pro cycling. No violations were found.
