July 18, 2013 marked the 95th birthday of Nelson Mandel, former president of South Africa. It was also the fourth Mandela International Day since its endorsement by the UN General Assembly in 2009.

South African embassy staff in Beijing commemorated the day by visiting the Chenguang Health Center for Children With Cerebral Palsy. The embassy donated physical therapy equipment specially made for the children with cerebral palsy together with South African Barloworld Logistic.

Embassy staff also offered voluntary work in partnership with One Foundation, a charity fund launched by Chinese movie star Jet Li.
