Run Ready in Guizhou
Qiandongnan in Guizhou is ready to kick off the Ultra-100km Running Challenge

The International Running Challenge of Ultra-100km Race will be held on November 11-13 in Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Ethnic Group Autonomous Prefecture in southwest China's Guizhou Province.

The 105.5-km course will be divided into three sections—the prefecture's capital city of Kaili, Xijiang Miao Village in Leishan County and the ancient town of Zhenyuan. A total of 175 athletes from home and abroad have registered as of October 31.

According to Gao Junhua, spokesman of the prefecture's information office, the event—the first of its kind in the prefecture's history—can be seen as the combination of sports, tourism and a presentation of ethnic minority culture.

"Our goal is to make the running challenge a top event in China's western region in three years, and the country's top event in five years," Gao noted.
