In 2010, the six universities in the region had 9,512 new students, including 299 postgraduates and 9,213 undergraduates. They had a general education enrollment of 31,827 students, including 718 postgraduates and 31,109 undergraduates. In 2010, 8,428 students graduated from the six universities, with 162 getting master's degrees or above and 8,266 getting bachelor's degrees or college certificates. The six vocational secondary schools in the region had an enrollment of 22,613 students, including 7,319 new entrants, and 7,312 graduated students. There were 122 secondary schools in the region, including 20 senior secondary schools, nine whole secondary schools and 93 junior secondary schools. The senior secondary schools had 40,728 enrolled students, including 15,057 new entrants, and 12,177 graduated students. Students enrolled in junior secondary schools totaled 138,992, including 47,361 new entrants, and 46,093 graduated students. The 872 primary schools in the region had a total enrollment of 299,408 students, including 50,747 new entrants, and 50,642 graduated students. There were 257 students enrolled in special education schools, with 42 new entrants. Kindergartens accommodated 23,414 children, an increase of 7,346 students over the previous year. The enrollment rate of school-age children reached 99.2 percent, 0.4 percentage points higher than a year earlier.
