BECOMING AMBASSADOR: Singer Wang Feng (left) accepts an appointment certificate as the 2011 FUN Music Festival's ambassador at the press conference held in Beijing on August 9 (CHEN RAN)

The 2011 FUN Music Festival will be held on August 26-28 at Changyang Island in southern Beijing.

Featuring Beijing style, the festival has invited artists and bands from home and abroad, including Wang Feng and Li Jian from the Chinese mainland, Chang Chen-yue from Taiwan, and Your Favorite Enemies from Canada.

Beijing singer Wang Feng was appointed as the festival's ambassador at the press conference held on August 9.

"Beijing style, for me, means a sort of temperament. With its deep cultural connotation, the city is open-minded and full of inclusiveness, allowing everyone to pursue his or her dreams," Wang said.

Music festivals, big or small, has become a trend in the Chinese cultural marketplace in recent years. Wang has his own selection criteria.

"[Attending] music festivals is a kind of lifestyle. I would attend those music festivals with high-quality hardware and service," Wang noted. "The location and transportation should be convenient for audiences, and organizers should treat all performers fairly."

Besides music, the festival will also offer entertainment activities including a creative market, folk arts displays, and outdoor camping.

The first FUN Music Festival was held on September 21-23 last year, attracting an audience of over 50,000.
