In 1999, Han Han won first place in the first New Concept national essay contest for high school students. Triple Gate (San Chong Men), as his representative work, has sold more than 1.9 million copies, and his subsequent novels have also been a hit in the stagnant book market.

Creative experience:

When Han Han was in middle school, he published several articles in youth magazines.

In 1999, he drew public attention by winning first place in the first New Concept national essay contest. Later, he again surprised the public by failing seven exams and staying in the same grade, which raised heated discussion about Chinese education.

In 2000, he published his first novel, Triple Gate (San Chong Men), leading people to talk about the "Han Han phenomenon."

When he was in Senior 2, he decided to drop out of school and continue writing. Since then he has published Triple Gate (San Chong Men), Minus One Degree (Ling Xia Yi Du) and The Chaos of Chang'an (Chang'an Luan), among other books.

In 2006, he started blogging with great success, observing social phenomena from his distinctive point of view. His blog has received over 240 million hits as of April 2009.

In 2006, he argued with literature critic Bai Ye on poetry and culture.

In April 2008, he advised students not to get too caught up in patriotic protests during the Olympic torch relay.

In May 2008, he went to Sichuan Province after the Wenchuan earthquake and criticized the Chinese reaction to comments made by American actress Sharon Stone.

He has also written for Qidian.com and released his newest novel, His Country (Ta De Guo), during Spring Festival 2009.
