Young Writers' Background

Di An
Share

In 2003, Sister's Jungle (Jiejie De Conglin), Di An's first novel, was published in the sixth issue of Harvest, a famous literary magazine founded by notable Chinese writer Ba Jin. The story vividly described adult life, especially the love experience of middle-aged people.

In 2004, Harvest published Di's new work Goodbye, Heaven (Gaobie Tiantang) and The Check as Lotus and the Brow as Willow (Furong Ru Mian, Liu Ru Mei).

Di is now one of the leading writers at Top Novel, a youth literature magazine that creates a fantasy world for young people. Though Di is in France, she stays in close contact with her readers through her blog and other instant messenger such as MSN and QQ.

Like famous overseas Chinese writers Eileen Chang and Yan Geling, Di said her heart is still in her motherland, China, and all her stories are inspired by her cherished memories there. Di has said that only when she uses up all these familiar details will she begin to write something else. Di hopes that Longcheng in her novel will be famous in the future not only because it is the second name of Taiyuan, her birthplace, but also because it is the most important background of her novel.
