(YUAN MAN)

Tan Jixiong, a policeman of the special forces in Wuhan, capital of central China's Hubei Province, was honored as one of the Top 10 People's Police jointly by the Ministry of Public Security and China's Central Television Station.

Tan, 34, has taken part in more than 300 emergency and large-scale security operations, winning many medals and prizes due to his outstanding performance and devotion to his work.

In 2009, during a hostage rescue mission, Tan was shot in the head when fighting with the criminal. The resulting three-hour surgical operation extracted approximately 50 bone fragments and the bullet.

After the catastrophic Wenchuan earthquake hit in 2008, Tan led a rescue team for a 60-day operation. Tan and his team rescued 10 injured victims and carried more than 2,000 kg of supplies to the quake-hit regions.
