The People's Bank of China (PBC), the country's central bank, has appointed Du Jinfu and Jiang Jianqing to its Monetary Policy Committee, which advises the PBC on major monetary issues.

Du, 55, was promoted to PBC vice governor in May 2010, following a four-year tenure as assistant governor since June 2006. He headed the central bank's statistics and personnel departments after joining the central bank in 1992.

Jiang, 57, has served as president of the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) since 2000. ICBC, which listed its shares in 2006 in Shanghai and Hong Kong stock exchanges, is the world's biggest bank in terms of market value and assets.

Su Ning, who retired as PBC vice governor earlier this year, and Jiang Chaoliang, Chairman of the China Association of Banks and President of China Development Bank, have left the 15-member Monetary Policy Committee, which consists of top finance officials and prestigious academicians.
