A tramcar network was put on a trial run on August 15 in Shenyang, capital of northeast China's Liaoning Province. The network, the first of its kind in China, consists of four lines with a total length of 60 km. Tramcars are favored because they require less building time and are cheaper than subways. They also carry more passengers than buses (PAN YULONG)
