The 15th China Beijing International Hi-Tech Expo is being held in Beijing on May 22-27. With the theme Innovation to Strengthen the Real Economy, the expo this year highlighted independent innovation, emerging strategic industries and regional opening up and cooperation.

The Marine Science and Technology Exhibition sponsored by the State Oceanic Administration makes its first appearance in the expo, displaying marine science and technology achievements China has made in the 11th Five-Year Plan (2006-10) period, such as deep-water detectors, robots, the research vessel Xuelong and the new-generation offshore platform.

More than 50 delegates from five international organizations and 20 countries and regions participate in the expo. All China's provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities and more than 2,000 Chinese companies are taking part in the expo.
