China's Top Legislature Appoints New Director of Legal Affairs Commission
Li Shishi on Thursday was appointed director of the Legal Affairs Commission of National People's Congress Standing Committee

Li Shishi on Thursday was appointed director of the Legal Affairs Commission of National People's Congress Standing Committee (NPC).

Hu Kangsheng was removed from the post as director the same day at the 32nd session of the Standing Committee of the Tenth NPC, China's top legislature.

Li, of Han nationality, was born in central China's Hunan Province in 1953 and joined the Communist Party of China in 1984. He holds doctorate in law.

He has been deputy secretary-general of the State Council since December 2003.
