China, UN Discuss AIDS Prevention

Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping has met the Executive Director of UNAIDS, Michel Sidibe here in Beijing.

During the meeting, Xi Jinping thanked UNAIDS for its support for China's prevention and treatment of the disease. Xi Jinping says China attaches great importance to the prevention and treatment work of HIV/AIDS, and wants to make joint efforts with the UN and the world community, to strengthen cooperation with Africa, and make a contribution to realize the Millennium Development Goals.

Sidibe spoke highly of China's efforts in dealing with the disease. He expects China to play an active role in promoting the development of the world's health service, and make its contribution to the prevention and treatment work of AIDS all over the world.
