Issue 12
Africa Travel> Issue 12
UPDATED: February 5, 2015
From the Editor – February
Share

Hello dear travelers!

Time does a strange warp thing the older you get, I am convinced of this. It cannot possibly be February already can it? In southern Africa the nights are becoming more bearable as we begin to feel slight relief from the summer heat. It was blisteringly hot when we visited Motswari Private Game Reserve in December last year for one of the most interesting weekends of my life. Located near the Kruger National Park, Motswari played host to seven local and international visual artists and musicians to highlight the awful decimation of our rhino population in South Africa. I'm sure you will find it a fascinating story.

This month marks the last instalment of my incredible, once-in-a-lifetime trip to Thailand. In this issue we take you on a kayak journey of the amazing caves in the seas of Phuket. Then we travel back to one of the jewels of the Indian Ocean – the Seychelles. The Seychelles opened its first business hotel on Eden Island towards the end of last year. The new establishment is named "Eden Bleu," after the surrounding ocean and the" Blue Economy" concept which Seychelles is seeking to develop, where the nation aims to harness its oceanic resources in a sustainable manner.

And last but not least we visit a game reserve near the world famous Sun City resort in Pilansberg called Tshukudu. We saw black mamba, leopard, rhino, lions and cheetah here – all on one single game drive!

So enjoy this issue of Africa Travel and until next month, bon voyage!

Jo Kromberg
