Hello, travellers! Welcome to the second issue of ChinAfrica Travel, one of the most unique travel websites in the world, catering to the emerging Chinese market with informative articles about the myriad magical destinations in Africa.

In this issue we take you to the Indian Ocean island of Mauritius on a culinary journey. We explore the cream Sun Resort's hotels in the form of Long Beach Hotel, Amber and Le Touessrok Hotel and all its tropical wonders and five-star delights. Then we visit Abo Shamani Wildlife Ranch, a private game reserve in the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa. The ranch and its five-star lodge are nestled in the Bushman's River Valley, overlooking the beauty and grandeur of frontier country with its rugged mountains, which provide sunsets of unparalleled splendor. Get up close with a lion, swim in the Indian Ocean, get involved in the day-to-day running of the reserve, hike through the lush forests, sip cocktails in a river cruise, play golf at the famous Royal Port Alfred Club or try your luck at the nearby Fish River Sun Casino. There is so much to do; a week is barely enough time.

Then we take a road trip and explore the beauty of the Overberg region of the Western Cape in South Africa, starting in Cape Town and spending the first night at the five-star Arabella Western Cape Hotel and Spa. Situated in the heart of the Kogelberg Biosphere and overlooking the largest natural lagoon in South Africa, the Arabella Western Cape Hotel and Spa is one of South Africa's premier golf and spa resort. Conde Nast Traveler called it "A deceptively low key architectural masterpiece of sandstone, timber, glass and steel with an impressive range of services..."

You're spoilt for choice with activities here, such as kayaking at sea, horseback riding and golfing at the prestigious Arabella Golf Course, to name but a few.

We then head to the Whale Route and the bustling town of Hermanus as well as Caledon, Napier and Swellendam where we stay in wonderfully quaint accommodation and meet interesting characters. The beauty of this area of the country is breathtaking and off the beaten track.

Last but not least, we head to Bela Bela in the Limpopo Province of South Africa to enjoy the fabulous diverse bush activities of Shakama Lodge. The lodge has all the features of a superior establishment – a wellness center with oodles of therapeutic and beauty treatments, catering for groups and every detail taken care of on the room and accommodation. There is also an elephant sanctuary and cheetah reserve nearby for the adventurous.

The high grass roofs, stunning views of the bush and then of course the game drives make this an unforgettable getaway. So as always, hope to see you soon in Africa!

Bon Voyage

Jo Kromberg
