Welcome to the very first issue of ChinAfrica Travel! This web page is unique in many ways. It is the first ever travel web page entirely dedicated to Chinese travelers to Africa – and vice versa – in both English and Mandarin. The travel web page is also linked to our host Beijing Review, China's premier news weekly, whose website receives one million unique visitors per day.

Along with the information and articles we will be posting here, our mission is to inform you about all the wonders of Africa and give you a taste of the spectacular beauty, wildlife, activities, destinations and sheer exhilaration you can expect on a trip to the continent.

Initially we will focus on countries and destinations in southern Africa, but ultimately we hope to bring you a comprehensive overview of the continent by means of travel articles and advice.

In our first issue, we introduce you to the "most luxurious train in the world" –Rovos Rail. The train offers many journeys, mainly in South Africa, but also across the continent as far as Dar es Salaam in Tanzania.

We also travel to Indigo Bay in Mozambique –simply paradise! This 5-star beach resort will offer you an itinerary full of exciting activities as well as world-class cuisine and service.

We also go deep into the African bush to experience the wildlife of Kruger Park in style, at Narina Lodge, Lion Sands. Read about our experience of sleeping in an ultra-luxurious tree house out in the open with the animals roaming free beneath you. Unforgettable.

Finally, we head to the Waterberg, a mere 2-hour drive from Johannesburg to Leoba Lodge. Your every need is catered to here. A renowned and expert chef will be flown in especially to cook epicurean cuisine - meeting each guest's preference and requirement. Leoba Lodge offers activities like shooting, quad biking, helicopter rides, fishing and also some of the most unusual experiences anywhere in Africa, like darting a buffalo from a helicopter to treat its injury, fighting a bush fire with the rangers or tracking a leopard without any limits on time.

So enjoy this first issue of ChinAfrica Travel and we hope to see you soon in Africa!

Bon Voyage

Jo Kromberg
