Yang Ling has helped his Chinese shooting partner to team gold in the 10-m running target event. As a veteran, it will be Yang's last Asian games appearance as a competitor, but it looks likely that he will guide the country's future stars to more glory in the years ahead.

 It is Yang Ling's second Asian Games. Eight years ago, he helped China to a team gold in South Korea's Pusan Asian Games.

Having retired for four years, he went back to the 10-meter running target ranges to try and bring more glory to his country.

He needed to dust himself down after so many years away from the sport and was out of practice. Proof of this came in the slow running preliminary rounds.

Yang Ling said, "It was a little accident. The gun caught fire when I hold up it. I felt surprised as well in the match. I've never met this before. "

One reason for his rustiness comes courtesy of the fact that Yang Ling is also the the coach of his team. Not only must he zero his own sights but also those in his squad.

"I was not quite focused on my training, as I needed to spend time coaching my players, and take care of the all of the players needs, including when they need to get out of bed. "

Yang Ling used his experiences to hold on in the competition and came back strongly... he finished in 9th place for his personal result in the 10-meter running target.

Yang's other athletes were crucial to the team. And he looked more nervous than his players.

Finally though, the 38 year old and his team mate, 17 year old Zhai Yujia claimed a team gold in the 10-meter running target event to add to China's burgeoning medal count.
