The compact communities of the Lhoba people are located in southeast Tibet and distributed at the southern foot of the Himalaya Mountains. The "Lhoba" is their appellation by Tibetans, meaning "southerners". Their language belongs to the Burmese branch of Sino-Tibetan language without written form (1963)
