Mansion of Sumdorcang

 
The mansion of Sumdorcang, a noble and powerful merchant in Lhasa (1956). Soon after the peaceful liberation of Tibet in 1951, the CPC Tibet Work Committee purchased the mansion at high cost to become the office building of the Tibet Work Committee and the office of Zhang Jingwu, representative of the Central People's Government. Later on, when the Tibet Work Committee moved out, it was used as offices by the Tibet Daily Press and Xinhua News Agency's Lhasa Branch
