Zhang Bingzhu, 73, is a teacher in a rural area near Chaohu City, central China's Anhui Province. He has devoted himself to the education of elderly people and migrant workers' children for 10 years since his retirement.

In 2002, Zhang founded a school for elderly students in Zhangtong Village in Chaohu, opening 10 classes covering current events, civics and health. There are 150 students at school and half of them attend weekly.

Zhang also takes care of children in his village, which lacks education and entertainment facilities. These children seldom have access to extracurricular activities after school and during holidays. Since their parents work outside the village, Zhang coaches them at his home and buys school supplies for them.

He has helped some 400 students in the past few years. "They make me happy and bring me a full life," Zhang said.
