Railway Watcher
Wang Xiaotang examines tracks at the Tanggula section of the Qinghai-Tibet Railway in west China's Qinghai Province on September 23, 2012. Everyday, workers maintain the 125-km-long Tanggula and patrol and scrutinize 10-km of the railway. The railway in this section is at an average elevation of 5,000 meters. Oxygen is only 50 percent of that in plain areas, and the annual average temperature is only 5 degrees Celsius below zero, with the lowest temperature reaching minus 40 degrees (XINHUA)
