A June 23 photo shows Zhangmu (Zhama) Town in Nyalam County in southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region. Zhangmu was set up in 1965 as a pass to the Nepal-China border and is only 90 km from Nepal's capital, Katmandu. Zhangmu is Tibet's primary trade hub and its largest open pass to the South Asian sub-continent. It is also a major pass of economic and cultural communications between China and Nepal. During the first six months, the port witnessed 29,131 tourists, 293,441 boarder residents, and 7,114 vehicles (XINHUA) |
