Ancient City Site
Dr. Wu Xinhua (front), head of an archaeological team at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, describes a recently discovered ancient city with a local archaeological worker in Qira County, northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, on April 10. Wu's team accidently discovered the site during an inspection in Taklimakan Desert in April. Remnants of walls in four sites show evidence of buildings constructed to face southward, as is typical in Han architecture (XINHUA)
