Solar Sacrifice
A ceremonial reenactment of a sacrifice to the sun was held in Ritan Park on March 20, 2012, at the spring equinox, one of the 24 solar terms in China. It is recorded that each emperor in the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) participated in such a ceremony at Ritan (Temple of the Sun) each spring equinox. The ceremony includes music, dance and etiquette performance (XINHUA)
