E-Grocers
Grocery workers fill orders for vegetable deliveries in the city of Wuhan, capital of central China's Hubei Province, March 14, 2012. This "electronic grocery" delivers vegetables and meat to over 3,000 households in more than 240 communities each day, aided by modern telecommunications technology. Residents can order groceries in the morning to be delivered to their door in the afternoon. Vegetables are 20 percent cheaper purchased with this service compared to retail supermarkets. The core technology is promoted by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology as the "Internet of Things," a digital network of real-world objects embedded with electronic sensors that interact via web services (XINHUA)
