Tree Protection Appealed
A Chinese cypress tree's trunk has broken in the city of Dengfeng in central China's Henan Province, February 29. According to a forest department in Henan, over 40,000 of the ancient trees are in danger of dying out due to global warming, drought, floods and a plummeting of the water table. The trees' immune systems become weak for lack of maintenance. Experts call for legislative protections of the species (XINHUA)
