Epidemic Prevention
Staff from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention in Yaohai District, Hefei City, capital of east China's Anhui Province, distribute hygiene pamphlets to flood-affected residents on July 14. Rainstorms and floods sweeping through south China have left at least 118 people dead and 47 missing since July 1. In Anhui Province alone, at least four people had been confirmed dead since July 8, while direct economic losses amounted to 2.3 billion yuan ($337 million). Rescue and relief operations have been accelerated in flooded cities and towns along the Yangtze River as the weather improved slightly after days of torrential rain (XINHUA)
