Case of Dry Anxiety
Farmer Chen Tianbao prays for rain, standing in a dried-out pond in Yuanyang County in Yunnan Province, on February 24. The southwestern province is experiencing its worst drought in six decades. The drought has also ravaged neighboring Guizhou Province and the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and other parts of the country. The long dry spell has left more than 11.88 million people and 8 million-plus head of livestock without adequate drinking water. It has also threatened reservoirs and affected millions of hectares of croplands and forests, according to drought-relief authorities (SHANGHAIDAILY)
