Completion
Artists perform at the completion ceremony in front of the China Pavilion, the iconic structure of the Shanghai 2010 World Expo, on February 8. The construction of China Pavilion, dubbed the "Oriental Crown," was completed Monday after more than two years of precision work. It is 69 meters tall, surrounded by the 13-meter-tall provincial pavilion. The 76-level stone steps at the entrance of the pavilion were carved manually by about 150 veteran stonemasons from Shanghai's Qingpu District, using ancient skills. The provincial pavilion has a rooftop garden replicating a famous Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) imperial garden. The pavilions will be ready to receive visitors by the end of March (XINHUA)
