Giant panda Tai Shan eats bamboo after arriving at Shuangliu Airport in Chengdu, capital of Sichuan Province, on February 5. Tai Shan, 4 1/2 years old, and giant panda Mei Lan, 3, both born in the United States, flew to new homes in their species' native land. Tai Shan was headed for the Bifengxia Breeding Base under the China Conservation and Research Center for Giant Panda in Ya'an, while Mei Lan was going to the Chengdu Research Base, which has already started looking for a Chinese teacher for her. The pandas will be quarantined for a month before mixing with other pandas and meeting the crowds (XINHUA)
