Commemoration in Silence
Some 6,830 pairs of cloth shoes are placed in a park in memory of the dead Chinese forced laborers in Tokyo, Japan, on August 9. A memorial service was held at a park for 6,830 Chinese who died in Japan after being forcibly taken to Japan to work as laborers during the World War II. Statistics show that nearly 40,000 Chinese were forced into labor at 135 locations throughout Japan during the World War II (XINHUA)
